Is it wrong to favor women until equality is achieved?
Well, this gets back to the whole affirmative action question which can be debated for eternity. Let's set that aside because I think my situation is more isolated. In my job, I have felt over the years that women have been purposely held back time and again while many less qualified men quickly moved up through the ranks. There have been a few lawsuits against my company all of which have been settled out of court. The situation has been slightly improved over the years, and I myself was finally promoted and I am now in a position where I can determine who moves up or down. And I ask myself this question now, am I wrong to favor women because I still believe women are far away from being on an equal footing with men in this company? I have fought tooth and nail to be where I am and I highly doubt that unless there are more women in the upper echelons of this company, the new generations of women will have an easier route to the top. What would you do?
