Why do Indian girls hate black men?

I met a girl in yahoo chat recently.she appeared to be friendly and we discussed endless topics.Recently she happened to view my cam.After that she lost her interest in me.she told me frankly that she isnt interested in black men.My intention was just friendship nothing else .I am an African American and i didn't know Indians are racists.What is the reason behind it.Though she is light skinned I have come across Indians who are darker than us.Still why do they have prejudice based on skin color.? I have read how their leader Gandhi fought against the racial discrimination and he being thrown out of train.Yet the approach of this girl is ridiculous. I want to know if Indians are generally racists.
