Is my son's school sending an inappropriate message?

my 10 year old son is in a school play about the history of rock and roll. his character smokes a pipe. i dont think its necessary or right for the school to reinforce smoking in any form. i havent said anything yet as i just found out today and also i'm not sure if i'm hyper sensitive to this issue because i'm an ex smoker. maybe i'm entitled to be sensitive. or maybe i need to be more sensitive because its a statistic that children of smoking parents tend to grow up to be smokers themselves. what do u think?
